Here are some of the blog posts, in English, on after-party highlights from some of the events around the world.  Unfortunately I could not find any blog posts in English to represent South America. icon sad Twestival 2009 Across The Globe

Last night’s Twestival – what a night! – London

From @yiannopoulos:

Twestival was a big event, but it still felt very intimate. Mike Butcher (@mikebutcher) from TechCrunch UK and Imogen Heap were among the “tweeple” wandering around chatting to the masses. Imogen was wearing a golden bird and two enormous microphones on her head. I’ve never been to anything in the UK where the “stars” mingled so openly and freely with their fans.

Twestival was a totally unique experience, unlike anything I’ve ever been to in London before. To call it “networking on steroids” doesn’t begin to cover it: here were a bunch of people who live to connect with others meeting some of their best online mates for the first time ever.

Honolulu Twestival Raises Over $7,000

From @hawaii:

The Honolulu Twestival was yesterday. I  was one of the organizers. It figures that after I implored everyone to help publicize it, the event is over by the time I mention it for the first time here.  But where I fell short, many others excelled, and the evening was a fantastic success.  Our goal was to raise $4,000. We raised that much in ticket sales alone.

Add in a $1,000 anonymous donation, a $1,000 donation from AIG Hawaii, direct donations via the charity: water website, sales of charity: water merchandise, and money leftover from our many generous event sponsors, the final tally will be over $7,000.

Last Night: Twestival SF at the Paradise Lounge

From @MyOwnVelouria:

Better than: Going to a boring old party where you have to wear a nametag of your actual name.

For an event dedicated to us compulsive microbloggers, Twestivalsf proved surprisingly swank – and surprisingly low tech. Held at the Paradise Lounge, a sleek nightclub nonetheless positioned on one of SoMa’s less polished corners, the Twitter-themed event ran most of the evening. A $20 donation at the door bought partygoers free range of two floors, three bars, and a room with a working fireplace. That money, say Twestival organizers, went to Water, a charity which lends a hand to some of the 1.1 billion people in the world who don’t have access to clean drinking water. Outside of the club, a bouncer guarded the roped-off entrance, begging the question: does he Twitter, too?

Nashville Twestival Rocked!

Last night, I hung out with what appeared to me to be anywhere between 150 – 250 locals at Big Bang on Broadway for Nashville Twestival.

We all came together to raise some serious cash to fund clean drinking water projects in under developed countries. It wouldn’t have happened if Nashvillest’s Christy Frink and Morgan Levy didn’t quickly pull together a few good folks and put out a call for action via Twitter. It literally came together in less than two weeks!
…they ended up giving away about $2,000 in raffle prizes from local businesses and raised over $2,200 for Charity:Water. How awesome is that?

From @kalena:

You may have heard about Twestival – which brings together Twitter communities for an evening of fun and to raise money and awareness for charity: water. On 12 February 2009, over 175 cities around the world hosted Twestivals and Christchurch was one of them. I attended Twestival Christchurch last night at the very trendy venue His Lordships Bar and Cafe and although there were only a handful of us in attendance, we still had a good time and felt good knowing we were doing our bit for charity.

Twestival Mumbai : Had Great Fun!!!!

First Of all there are few advantages of being youngest at any Twitter Fest, I need to introduce that to you or else you will miss out the fun.

  • You get Media attention i mean as soon as they come to interview they interview first
  • People can’t stop praising you like “Oh you are the 13yr old boy? Nice job!”
  • I can’t remeber anything else!

First Of all I would like to thanks Netra and Hardik for helping us arrange Twestival Mumbai and how can i forget you Mohnish? icon smile Twestival 2009 Across The Globe

Twestival Vienna Pics

Yesterday, Vienna’s first Twestival took place at WerkzeugH. In more than 120 cities, twitterers joined forces to have a good time and raise some money for clean water projects in Africa. Dan, who organised the Viennese event, raffled off a Nintendo Wii and a Logitech Squeezebox, and we managed to collect almost 500 Euros. The event was streamed live on the official Twestival Page. And indeed: we tweeted, we met and we gave. I hope that we can recruit some more people next time, but considering the impromptu approach and the short time span, I think it was quite a nice result. Twestival benefit for Charity Water on Moderne Island

From @knuwkidd:

Moderne Communications, in the spirit of helping to bring the world together, will be hosting the first ever Second Life Twestival for charity:water. The event will take place at the virtual charity:water headquarters on Moderne Island on February 12, 2009 at 4:30pm SLT. The 2 hour event will feature live music, information on charity:water’s work and how you can help, and donation points that allow you to give directly to the well-building projects. No donation is required to attend, but anything you can give is much appreciated.

Bangalore India Twestival 2009

Mark Rego (quizmaster) giving a brief intro to Twestival and Charity Water.  Then we showed one of the videos (the Scott Harrison one)and then Mark started the Booze and Brains quiz. KT Thomas volunteered his time by running a few of the videos in between the quiz. The live feed was being broadcast through another laptop… whose camera couldn’t really pick up much..other that the stage icon sad Twestival 2009 Across The Globe Some of the dedicated Tweeters made themselves comfy and started tweeting.. the others were having a good time with the quiz. In fact almost no one played at the wii zone.

Very few people played it. Basically we were originally supposed to have it at a more open area, where people could have easier access to it. Unfortunately at the last minute we were told that that area was no longer available, but alternate arrangements had been made.

@StokeTwestival

After arriving at the Twestival a bit later than planned I was glad to see it hadn’t actually kicked off properly, Bitjam were providing the Music and visuals and I grabbed a Pint with Sir Findo Gask. After that we did a bit of mingling.

I was introduced to @BizFizz and Clairewhite Which was good to meet them as I have been aware of their activities for a while but only just found them on Twitter. got talking to a couple of pleasant chaps from Staffs Uni all about the larks of being a student and living in shared houses etc.

Social networking fans all a-twitter at ‘Twestival’

The whole point of the festival is to bring business and people together to network and socialize and we have people here from Oman and almost Doha, Qatar, but they chose to host their own party,” said Prashant Gulati, Optimistix managing director, and one of the festival’s organisers.

According to Twitter statistics and the event organisers, 28 per cent of the website’s users in the Arab world are based in the UAE. Last year its membership soared more than sevenfold to hit 4.4 million worldwide. Alexander McNabb, managing director of Spot On PR, reckons that is because “Twitter is far simpler and easier to use than Facebook and is a means of connecting people together using a very simple application that can be accessed from a computer or a phone”.

Dubai joins 175 cities in hosting Twitter festival

“We hope Twestival networking event will both help raise awareness for Twitter in the UAE and for charity: water, the charity supported by this global event,” said P.K. Gulati, one of the co-organisers of the Dubai Twestival. “The event has been entirely put together using Twitter, which goes to show how powerful 140 character messages can be!”

The Twestival is organized 100 per cent by volunteers in cities around the world and 100 per cent of the money raised by these events will go directly to support the charity: water, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations.

Finally, here is a list of all of the locations and the twitter name of the person who set things up for that location. I look forward tot he next event, and if you are in the Paris area, maybe I’ll see you there.
