A Learned Skill

OK.  So you think you can multitask or that you stay focused?  Well, you learn to be even more so in international sales. Trust me.  You learn to pay attention to many different things all at once, to align everything with your your business goals.

Teamwork

Another thing you also learn is the intrinsic need for good teamwork within this mass of details.  This is where our last cross-cultural communication tips comes into play.  It is the first tactic you pick up in international sales that helps teamwork. You learn to:

  • Systematically summarize what you say and what you understand the other person has said.

This is how you put everyone on the same page and enable teamwork.  In international sales teamwork has several different playing fields within:

  • Relevant departments
  • Relevant teams
  • Your whole company
  • And even your clients departments & teams & company

So, one final word of advice from Jeffrey’s Little Red Book Of Selling…

Beyond organized.  Detail is vital to my success.  It sounds minute, but it’s HUGE.  I keep things in order so I can function error-free. – Jeffrey Gitomer

Imagine how this attitude helps you make international sales easier!
