International Marketing Review – Concept Cars From Different Countries

In many countries there is a car that many people would say is the symbol of the country. Maybe the Fiat in Italy and the Renault in France. Since so many people are passionate about cars, no matter what example one uses of a typical car there are people that will automatically disagree with the example.
This weeks International Marketing Review leaves the idea of ‘typical car’ behind and presents Concept Cars that are designed or developped in different countries. Choosing only 7 cars was difficult, there are so many concept cars designed every year. I selected these because almost all of them are at an advanced stage of development.
While you look at these cars that are not at all typical, imagine what you can do in your day to day life that is also not typical.
Naresh Chauhan presents Veeo concept car hides a modified world within its round makeover posted at The Design Blog saying “Inspired by a bee’s morphology, Colombian designer Catalina Nuñez Galvez is out there with a concept carthat is designed to allow safer as well as extended inner space for commuters. Dubbed “Veeo,” the futuristic car accommodates four passengers comfortably on its reclining seats, which you may further slide or adjust to carry your pets and even a bicycle at the rear. The urban vehicle comes with a single in/out door and has a maximum weight capacity of 375kgs. Though we are scant on other technical specs, the Veeo touting a sleek and compact design seems to be an ideal city car for the future.”

Luxuo @luxuo presents Photos of Chinese concept diamond-car posted at Luxuo saying “Yet another concept vehicle hailing from Beijing is this unnamed car that enables the coupe’s body to rotate with the course of travel in the same way as a motorbike does when rounding a curve to compensate centrifugal strength. The purpose is to ensure everything inside the cargo stays in place when the car rolls the streets. Designed and developed by Huiwen Ji, this car is supposed to target the Chinese middle-class. No word on price and availability yet.”

Ben Wojdyla presents 550 HP Russian E-Go Revolt Sports Car Looks Amazing posted at Jalopnik saying “A newly-formed Russian coach builder named E-Go is apparently hard at work on their first offering, and the little Russki brand we’ve never heard of is aiming high. They’re supposedly building themselves a sports car and naming it the E-Go Revolt.”

Carlos Lago presents Aptera Shows First Interior Sketch of 2e Prototype posted at Motor Trend Wide Open Throttle saying “Compared its postmodern exterior, the Aptera 2e’s interior looks civil, if the sketch released this week provides any indication. Aptera, a San Diego County-based electric car maker, is closing on its planned production date for its front-drive three-wheeling electronic vehicle.”

Sebastian Blanco presents AFVI Show: Narrow Car Co. brings 100 mpg Naro … something … to Anaheim posted at AutoBlogGreen saying “The Naro concept is part of a Welsh invasion of the AFVI show featuring Connaught Motor Co., the Narrow Motor Co., Breacon Coachworks, PEC, researchers from Cardiff University, the University of Glamorgan, and the Swansea School of Industrial Design. The other showcase vehicle is the upcoming Connaught Type D hybrid sports car. The team from Wales will also talk about upcoming hybrid midi-buses.”

Zampik @designeast presents Galapagos by Igor Yastrebov one of the 10 Finalist in PEUGEOT Design Contest 2008 posted at DesignEast saying “Russian designer Igor Yastrebov with his Galapagos concept is one of the 10 Finalist in PEUGEOT Design Contest 2008. This concept has strong visual feel, nice moving sculpture. GALapagos project shows the evolution of Vehicle for the future. It can be adopted to any road situation, that can happens in the MEGALOPOLES with transformable wheel base. GALapagos can be Motor bike with narrow weel base or can be a real comfortable car for two passengers.”

Scott Doggett presents MDI’s 2010 AIRPod Car Not Just a Lot of Hot Air postedat GreenCarAdvisor saying “At the heart of the 2010 MDI AIRPod is a piston engine that runs on compressed air. The engine is “fueled” by a system of high-pressure air tanks constructed of lightweight carbon-fiber that, when the first production models are built by year’s end, will operate at substantially less than the 10,000-psi rating of hydrogen tanks used in some fuel-cell vehicles. Green Car Advisor’s Nick Kurczewski flew to Nice, France, recently to discover if Luxembourg-based Motor Development International might be developing a zero-emissions car capable of changing the world as we know it.”

The last entry for this week is a short video showing the Peugeot OMNI, probably the easiest car in the world to park.
