International Web Marketing
A few weeks ago I wrote about the Social Media Success Summit 2009. It started two weeks ago and goes on for another two weeks. This is the third Success Summit I have attended and I really like the format. It is just the next best thing if you cannot attend live seminars and still want to stay at the top of your field.
At the time, several readers told me they were interested in attending the Success Summit, but did not want to pay for it. This is why I thought I would share this other upcoming event with you. The International Marketing University. And this one is free. I must say that I have not attended this event before… and believe this is their first run. But this Inbound Marketing University course looks very similar to the Success Summits:
- High profile presenters
- Live webinars that are recorded
- Easy to follow Twitter conversations with the hashtag #imu
- Private forum
- Professors are available to answer your questions on Twitter and in the forum
There are a few differences and specifics to note for the Inbound Marketing University course:
- It is over 8 days
- Every weekday from June 15 – 19 and it ends on Monday June 22nd
- There is an exam to become certified – Those who complete IMU and pass the exam will become Inbound Marketing Certified Professionals and will receive a certificate.
The Inbound Marketing University course is for job seekers and marketers who want to get up to speed on the current web marketing trends. That is probably why this schedule is so intense. If you want to take the exam to get the certification and are working as well, you will probably want to arrange to have extra free time during the event.
For the non-American readers here, don’t let the term “inbound marketing” confuse you. Remember, Americans love to brand their products with new words… I think I need to make a list of all of the different types of “marketing” I have run across. I understand inbound marketing to refer to what is currently happening with web marketing in an information overloaded world. There is a book out if you would like to look into this concept further.
Before you decide whether you want to attend or not, have a look at the list of presenters… oops they are called professors. I would love to ask a few questions to several of these professors. Plus, I also like the lead generation and business aspect of the course. That is why I have signed up, even if my schedule does look a little tight.
Most of my readers outside of North America will understand the value of attending events like this to keep up with North American best practices. These best practices:
- Create the standard for marketing to North American clients
- Also influence international marketing best practices
Let me know if you decide to attend the IMU too, and what you think of it.
