The exiting political party put up a website providing the public with the income declared to the tax authorities of all Italian citizens. Everyone could see what everyone paid in taxes.

What’s Conceivable

  • It is easy to understand the curiosity it created amongst the population.
  • It is easy to understand why the website was taken down.

What’s Culturally Intriguing

But, living outside of Italy, it is hard to imagine how any government would actually put the information online for free and easy public access. It’s not surprising. This is not the first time the Italian political scene has filled the press with culturally intriguing stories.
