You know, quite a few international business students find this article and tell me I've forgotten to include things they have in their text books. That's really not why I wrote this. Once you leave school and have a fair bit of experience working across cultures, you'll notice how different people have different explanations for what "international business" means to them. And that was my take here.

But I do think there's more to this when you look at individual cultures in depth and compare what business means in different cultures.

Hi Vikash, thanks for commenting. Businesses often approach me to help them, and they don’t realize their definitions of international business are different from mine… A common problem is that they think I can help them open shop in another country, but I’m not actually in the business of exporting goods. I help people get their marketing communication and sales strategies right to make international business possible.
