I certainly hope that cold calling/tele-sales will improve with time! I wish they improved yesterday!

This is a very valuable marketing resource really...It's just under face-to-face sales...and I don't think that telemarketing companies use this to their advantage...

I love the idea of using the qualified leads...If you don't use qualified leads, no matter what you're selling, you will have minimal success anyway!

Yes, we have an unlisted phone number and still receive a plethora of sales call, and yes, they are always at dinnertime...They rarely give you an opportunity to communicate back, and almost ALWAYS hang up on you without a goodbye if you express no interest in what they're selling.

Now, I have certainly been on the other end of this, as I have done some telemarketing back in the day...However, I had an extremely high conversion with my customers on the telephone...

Why? Because I always tried to establish a polite conversation and have a point of similarity...I tried to pick up on their concerns, or what they might be interested in...Somehow, someway, I often got an opportunity to connect with them.

So, yes, Cindy...I agree that politeness goes a long way! Not everyone will be interested, but that IS NO EXCUSE to be rude!

Also, thanks so much for the awesome submission to my Dessert Course of the Blog Carnival at BlogNButter.com!

Kimberly Edwards :)
TheSmallBusinessMarketingBlog.com
