It has been another week focused on social media. The reason behind this is a new social media product in the works.

FriendFeed & bizSugar Tweets

Have you noticed the arrival of @bizSugar and @FriendFeed in my tweets this week? As I said here last week, bizSugar has been driving a fair bit of traffic to my blog even though it is a small community. And FriendFeed is simply one of my favorite places to read about what my friends are up to.

This is why I am trying something new, copying a well-known social media marketer. I am now systematically retweeting each of the FriendFeed entries for the publication of my blog posts. The beginning of this tweet is: “Join me on @FriendFeed“. I sincerely hope to hook up on FriendFeed with more people interested in the same topics I write about here on this blog.

The same thing for bizSugar. I tweet “Join me on @bizSugar” for each of my articles on bizSugar. This is because the bizSugar community is rapidly becoming a valuable resource for me. There are many other bizSugar contributors there who submit high quality articles of interest to small businesses.

Social Media Tweets

As I mentioned above, I am working on a social media product.  But this is not the only reason why there are so many social media tweets below.  There definitely seems to be a buzz around social media as more and more businesses include social media in their marketing mix.

I am trying out the new Wibiya footer toolbar – there are some glitches on some browsers, but I do like the extra opportunity this gives to ask people to connect elsewhere.  This toolbar is still in beta version, but the wibiya team are obviously working hard to make theirs a great social media toolbar.

And I have also finally added some more cross-cultural and international Twitter friends to the list of people I recommend others follow.
