@CindyKing: OK… and have you ever lived abroad? And if so, where and for how long?
@steveroesler: I’ve lived in Saudi Arabia for a couple of years as well as the UK.
@steveroesler: And have worked for extended periods of time in about 20 different countries
@CindyKing: Do you speak any foreign languages? ….or do you feel close to any particular cultures?
@CindyKing: So Steve, how much of your cross-cultural/international experience is related to your profession?
@steveroesler: Most of it. It got started back in 1975 as a result of a 3-month speaking tour of South Africa.
@steveroesler: That got my totally buzzed about the world. Had a chance to meet and spend time with so many different folks. . .
@steveroesler:…everyone from biz types to political leaders to the heads of tribes who were struggling with apartheid at that time.
@CindyKing: That must have been quite an experience…how did you pick up your cross-cultural skills?
@steveroesler: From making a lot of mistakes and having people graciously correct me:-)
@CindyKing: I think most of us have been there…
@CindyKing: …Is there anything else about your international background that you’d like to share?
@steveroesler: Yes. And that is to really let go of what other people have told you about a culture or country. .
@steveroesler:. . .and walk in with a combination of open-mindedness and being observant before jumping into a discussion
