Cross-Cultural Communication Challenge – Expand Your Mindset

Most people begin cross-cultural communication focused on the “other” person and the “other” person’s culture. Good intercultural skills teach you to start at the other end.You must be conscious of who you are and your cultural differences.

Becoming aware of how your own cultural background contributes to the cross-cultural communication is a major step.  All effective communication skills start here.

Today’s Cross Cultural Communication Challenge Tip reminds us to not let our own cultural differences get in the way of effective communication.  This does not mean you have to become someone different.  It does mean that sometimes you will need to set your own cultural baggage to one side before you can truly connect across cultures.

Cross-Cultural Communication Challenge Tip #18

Put your own cultural baggage aside during cross-cultural communication

Your challenge to improve you cross-cultural mindset:

  • Read your daily tips every day during the challenge
