Cross-Cultural Communication Challenge – Expand Your Mindset

Some people love cultural generalizations. I am often asked for anecdotes on cross-cultural communications gone wrong. The truth is that things are almost always much more complex and cannot be resumed accurately in any generalized statement.

In addition, many cultural generalizations that were common 20 years ago can easily get you into trouble today. There are generation issues and globalization issues that make these generalization totally obsolete.

Today’s Cross Cultural Communication Challenge Tip reminds us not to fall into the trap of cultural generalizations. People with strong international skills are also good at recognizing the different segments within one cultural group, and seeing how these different segments interact with each other.
