Do not be fooled into thinking that listening is a passive activity. It may appear to to so when compared to speaking skills and writing skills. But listening is the element that counts the most in cross-cultural communication. Here is today’s tip:

Focus on what is said with words, body language, flow of conversation… and also what is not said.

Listening fully inside a cross-cultural conversation takes practice. It can even be physically tiring, especially if you are speaking in a foreign language. This is why it is always a good practice to concentrate on improving your listening skills with each cross-cultural encounter… your relationships with others will become stronger.
