When I got my first business websites I spent several weeks looking for the right hosting service. Of course, I wanted to sign up with a host with great service and reliability.
There were two other issues buzzing in my head:
A Business Hosting Solution
I had used the American company GoDaddy before. There have a good service.
They also have a 24 hour telephone customer support service, with American style customer service. This means you usually feel like they care about trying to help you.
I can call North American phone number for free with my telephone service. So a service with an American phone number is not an issue for me.
But I just did not like the idea of setting up an international online business with a company whose sole branding campaign is to flash a pretty young woman’s big boobs all over the place.
Pictures do speak a thousand words. What if they are the wrong words? [click to continue...]

International Web Marketing
Most company marketing executives do not have a hands on role with their company’s web marketing, or e-marketing.
eMarketing is another word for web marketing
Geek marketers are few and far between. The varying skill levels of eMarketers make it difficult to assess. But there appears to be disparity in eMarketers depending on which continent your live. North American marketers definitely have more hands on experience with web marketing than French marketers for example.
I have not seen a survey on this, and this is simply based on my own observations.

To be successful in international business you need to spend a lot of time opening yourself up to different cultures. This is an ongoing exercise. You learn to put your own cultural prejudices aside in order to be able to create authentic cross-cultural communication.
Prejudice
Yep. I just said prejudice. We all have them. Even when we think we don’t. We acquire cultural prejudices through our up-bringing, the environment we live in and our own experiences. [click to continue...]

Sure the 4 hour work week is the buzz today. But two recent articles on outsourcing made me wonder just how much outsourcing is too much for our own good.
Not only could you lose your own job value if you throw away important elements of your future job, but you could also be giving a great marketing advantage away to the businesses who are better at knowing when to outsource or not.
These articles show there are companies that outsource their valuable assets before they realize just what they are losing. Job markets change. [click to continue...]

There seems to be a set of common current buzz words in English speaking countries. Everyone is talking about high gas prices and slow economies. And I have read several headlines recently on how to survive business slumps.
Apparently this slump has hit online business sectors in the North American markets harder than in European markets.
To understand the reasons behind this, you need to look at some marketing basics. [click to continue...]

Businesses approach international web marketing differently. Based on my personal experience it depends on where your primary business is:
- Brick and mortar businesses with a website are very interested in international web marketing, almost right from the beginning. International exposure is one of the big calling cards for getting a business online. These businesses already have a marketing role within their company. They often realize they need international marketing.
- The successful internet marketers I know do not do any specific international web marketing. They already have international sales. Yet they do not try to develop these international sales further, through international web marketing. Some do limited off-line marketing, through presentations and courses in different countries.
