I have not really encountered this, but I wonder if this is due to being mostly in non-English environments and using translations, where I would indeed always opt for something more along the lines of &quot;relational&quot;.   

This brings up another interesting question... I wonder if cultures with &quot;high individualism&quot; scores such as the US appreciate relational competences &lt;strong&gt;less&lt;/strong&gt; compared to cultures with &quot;high collectivism&quot; scores... or is it one of Hofstede&#039;s other cultural dimension scales that is involved?
