Submitting your Site to Foreign Search Engines
Most websites will not be listed in any foreign language search engines. It can happen but more by chance.
If you are you would like for people in a foreign country to find your website you should register your website with those directories. Most people will simply not realize this or ask their webmasters to take care of it.
Read on, if you are on a very limited budget and would like to test a foreign country, or two, before investing any significant amount of money to expand your business internationally. The key is to take advantage of the low cost for far reach with internet marketing. But you must ensure that your website is communicating with the local people in the foreign country.
Getting your website referenced in each of the foreign countries you are targeting is essential. You want all of your clients searching for your products to find your website. Free online translations are not 100% error proof, but they are much, much better than even a couple of years ago.
If you want to give it a test, look up a couple of websites in your target foreign market that are in the local language. Use the free translation tools on a page of text or two and read through. This will give you a general idea of the quality you can expect.
For the exercises below, we are not talking about translating your website into the foreign language. You need the free translation tools simply to understand how to register your current website with the local foreign language search engines.
Using this very short tutorial you will be able to submit your website to several foreign language search engines. I will be adding more examples using search engines from different countries.
I started off with Chinese and Russian, two languages I do not understand and wondered how easy it would be. Both were surprising easy. European countries will follow shortly – these are languages I do understand well enough to fill in the forms.
