    Cindy,

Great post! I think you really nailed down some very core concepts that people need to consider when getting into social media.

They really need to ask themselves why they are there in the first place? Whats the objective? “Everyone is doing it” is far too often the answer I hear.

I think that after determining a strategy and finding the right communities and sites to interact with, that implementing tools to help with the job can take a huge amount of the time sink out of the equation.

My favorite social media tools for managing my time are free sites like hootsuite and Converse(http://bit.ly/smconverse). Hootsuite is great for keeping an eye on the mentions, comments, and the like from twitter, facebook, and linkedin all in one easy to see dashboard.

Converse by socialize your cause is an extremely handy tool for scheduling out messages and multimedia to be sent out to a wide variety of social media networks. It lets me schedule out when and where I want messages to be sent, so I can focus more time and energy on connecting with potential customers and influencers in the social web.

    Keep up the great work!

Hi David, thanks for dropping by and thanks for sharing about Converse. I have to admit that I bought my computer in France and use it primarily in English. This means that there are things going on deep inside that often make it impossible to use some of the cool tools. With so many of the fun tools not working well on my computer I only give myself time about once every month or so to check out the new ones. But I will check out Converse!
